What we handle and what the forwarder handles
We do not carry out customs clearance and do not give customs advice. That part of the import is handled by a forwarder, your own or one we recommend. Many clients already have their own forwarder.

| Task | Who handles it |
|---|---|
| Export documents from China | Transcont |
| Invoice, packing list and bill of lading, matched to the goods loaded | Transcont, with the supplier |
| Delivery to the customs warehouse | Transcont |
| Handing the documents over to the forwarder | Transcont |
| Customs clearance, duty and VAT | The forwarder |
| Delivery to your warehouse after release | Transcont, if agreed |
Throughout the process, including while they are in customs, the goods belong to the client.
Documents matched to the goods in China
Before loading, our agents count the goods and compare the invoice and the packing list with what is actually in the cartons, in our warehouse or at the factory, anywhere in China. We also issue our own bills of lading. When the documents are accurate and complete, the customs procedure is usually much simpler, with a lower risk of the goods being held.
The import documents your forwarder needs for customs clearance are listed in the guide import documents for goods from China.
Certificates to check before importing
Before you order, check which certificates and documents customs requires for your goods. The forwarder confirms the requirements. Before you pay the deposit, we request the documents from the supplier and check that they relate to your product.

| Goods | Certificates and documents |
|---|---|
| Toys | CE mark, EN 71 test reports, declaration of conformity |
| Lighting and electrical products | Documents under LVD, EMC and RoHS, declaration of conformity, CE mark |
| Products in contact with food: home goods, packaging | The supplier's declaration for the material |
If the product needs an import licence, the forwarder will tell you.
Delivery in the region
The goods arrive in Thessaloniki, Durres or Bar, where we have a direct presence and annual shipping contracts, and continue by truck to the customs warehouse. We work in the same way for every country: we deliver the goods to the customs warehouse in the buyer's country, and a forwarder in that country handles clearance. The routes are described on the country pages:
- Macedonia: via Thessaloniki.
- Serbia: via Thessaloniki, Bar or Piraeus.
- Kosovo: via Durres or Thessaloniki.
- Albania: via Durres.
- Montenegro: via Bar.
- Bosnia and Herzegovina: via Bar.
